Hong Kong China News Agency (HKCNA), set up on November 13, 1956 in Hong Kong, is mainly to offer various kinds of news releases to newspapers in Chinese in Hong Kong, Macau and foreign countries, and articles for newspaper supplements. It also publishes and distributes "HKCNA Dispatches", "HKCNA Articles for Supplements" and "HKCNA Features" to its clients.

Starting from April 1, 1986, it has provided the media in Chinese in Hong Kong, Macau and foreign countries with HKCNA dispatches in Chinese through fax machines, and also mailed "HKCNA Dispatches" to its readers.

HKCNA, a regional agency, offers about 30 dispatches for over 80 clients every day, covering news in the Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Chinese communities abroad. At present, besides newspapers, broadcasting stations and TV stations in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, HKCNA also offers its dispatches to newspapers in Chinese in the United States, Thailand, France, the Philippines, Canada, Brazil and Peru.

The Hong Kong-based agency has set up a representative office in Beijing, a correspondent station in Shenzhen and a subordinate institution, Hong Kong China News Agency Thailand Company Limited, in Bangkok. It has established broad business ties with the media in the Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan as well as foreign countries. With a large batch of freelance correspondents and special feature writers in these regions, HKCNA is able to offer reliable news sources to its clients.
